Sometimes, innocent people get arrested, charged, and jailed for something they didn’t do.
Sometimes, guilty people are good people who made a bad choice. And, that one choice doesn't define them as a person. Hohler Law will tell your story and will help the court see you as a real person and not just a statistic.
First, Hohler Law will meticulously review police actions in your case to ensure that your rights were respected. Then, we'll asses the evidence being used against you, and we'll give you a frank appraisal of how strong the State's case is from a potential jury's perspective. Finally, we'll compare the strength of the case versus several options available to you. You'll decide what path to take, and Hohler Law will fight for you along every inch of that path.
Successful Police Interactions
Virtually every criminal case begins with you having some sort of interaction with the police. Handling these interactions properly can have a huge impact on your case.
Officer Friendly will want to have a chat to "clear all this up" or will ask to do a quick search saying you shouldn't mind, if you have nothing to hide. Don't get suckered when this happens. That officer has one primary goal ... to build a case against you.
If the police have even a hint of suspicion that you might have committed a crime, it's important to ask politely if you're free to leave. If so, leave immediately without saying another word. If the police say you're detained and are not free to leave, then:
1) Say nothing beyond your identifying information and your desire to speak to a lawyer, and
2) Never consent to a search of your person or anything in your control. If the police decide to search anyway, allow it, but let them know politely they do not have your consent.
Don't Talk and Never Consent.
